Dell Tech Support Service Tag Hack

Dell has experienced a compromise on one of more of it's servers, allowing 3rd party access to customer support information including but not limited to the Service Tag for Dell workstations, server, and laptops.


If you receive a call from an outside line, be aware that it may be a 3rd party attempting to gain access to your machine.

You should only give out information about your machine to an off-site 3rd party if you have initiated the call and are sure you are speaking with the appropriate representative.

In most cases, Dell support for JLab equipment should be routed through the Computer Center helpdesk.

They can be reached at extension 7155 or in person on the second floor of Cebaf Center's F wing between 8am and 4:30pm.
