JLab OS X Printing

Server: jlabprt.jlab.org

  1. Click the Apple icon at the top left of the screen.
  2. Select "System Preferences" from the menu displayed.
  3. Find the section labeled Hardware, then select "Print and Scan".
  4. Click the (+) sign from the left-hand side to add a new printer.
  5. At the top, verify that you select the "IP" tab.
  6. From this tab, fill out the following information sections as follows without the quotations.
    • Protocol: "Line Printer Daemon - LPD" (select this option from the drop-down box)
    • Address: "jlabprt.jlab.org"
    • Queue: "Name of the Printer" (example: cs06)
    • Name: "Name of the Printer" (example: cs06)
    • Location: "------------" (leave this section blank)
    • Print Using: "Generic PostScript Printer" (select this option from the drop-down box)
  7. Click the "Add" button.
  8. Select the checkbox for "Duplex Printing" to be enabled, then click "Continue".

Your Mac should now be synced to communicate with your chosen printer. If you would like to add another printer, simply follow these same instructions and use the designated printer names for the various printing devices located on-site.
