Guest Other Printing

Here at Jefferson Lab(JLab) our supported operating systems are as follows:

  • RHEL 5
  • OSx 10.5 and up
  • Windows XP SP3 and Up

If you desire to print to a printer on Jefferson Lab's network then you must have one of the above mentioned operating systems installed. If you don't than your machine is not supported here at Jefferson Lab. However, if you would like to attempt the install anyway. Try a few of the steps below.

Ubuntu:

  1. Click System
  2. Go to Administration
  3. Click Printing
  4. Click Add
  5. Select Network Printer(LPD/LPR Host or Printer)
    1. Fill in the appropriate information
    2. Host: confsrv.jlab.org
    3. Queue: "printername" (The name of the printer you wish to print to. ex. cs01)
  6. Click Forward
  7. Select Printer from Database(Choose Generic, alternatively you can download the drivers from the printer manufacturer's website)
  8. Click Forward
  9. Selecty Post Script Printer
  10. Click Forward
  11. Click Forward
  12. Click Apply

CentOS / Fedora Core:

---First identify the printer name and its model by looking at the physical printer. For Unix guest printing you must go out to the Manufacturer's Website download and install the drivers: (ex. Xerox Drivers ) Once you have identified the name and model of the printer you wish to print to, please follow th 5 simple steps below:

  1. Click System
  2. Go to Administration
  3. Select Printing;
  4. Choose New Printer
  5. Add a Network Printer (LPD/LPR Host or Printer)
  6. Fill in required information.
  •     Host: confsrv.jlab.org
  •     Queue: cs01 (the name of the printer you wish to print to)

     5. Continue to driver selection section, and select your printer model from the list of printers
