Group Services
The Computing and Networking Infrastructure (CNI) group manages the central file server and most other system administrative task that are central to all JLab computing (email, calendar, login servers, etc.) There are several computing services provided for groups across JLab. We have centralized these services so that groups can better manage their data and communication throughout their group. These services include:
- Group Management (Unix/Windows permissions)
- Web Servers
- Wikis
- Subversion
- Concurrent Versions System (CVS)
- Mailing Lists
Our Group Management Utility allows group administrators to manage group memberships without assistance from User Services. You will need to login with your current JLab username and password to access this utility.
A number of web servers are deployed and managed by the CNI group for various groups across the site. In general, if you have a project to develop on the web at the lab, your group probably already has a web server that you can use to develop it. If not, a certain amount of development capability is available on the main http://www.jlab.org (www) web server. The CNI group also deploys and manages Wikis, Subversion, and Concurrent Versions System (CVS) servers.
Please contact the IT Division Help Desk with any questions or concerns regarding group memberships or a server managed by the CNI group.
