CUE Web Servers

Introduction

A number of web servers are deployed and managed by the Computer Center for various groups accross the site. These servers all rely on the CUE environment to provide a single installation that is tailored to each group's needs. Some of these servers use SSL to provide secure communications. You may see warnings from your browser that the host is unknown, or is using a certificate signed by an untrusted authority. If so, have a look at this document.
In general, if you have a project to develop on the web at the lab, your group probably already has a web server that you can use to develop it. If not, a certain amount of development capability is available on the site web server.

Publishing From Your Home Directory

The site web server provides support for publishing web content from your home directory. Content placed in the directory /home/joeuser/public_html/myfile.html (Unix, on NT it's J:\public_html\myfile.html ) is available on the web at http://www.jlab.org/~joeuser/myfile.html

Note that all web publication, including home directory publication, is subject to the Lab's and DOE's acceptable use guidelines.
