Scientific Computing Unix Systems
Interactive and batch farm Unix systems are provided for the purpose of Scientific Computing. Access to these systems is granted via active JLAB CUE User Accounts, and further managed through the use of UNIX groups. More information on accessing the Scientific Computing systems can be found on the UNIX User Groups for the Jefferson Lab Farm Systems page. Details for the Scientific Computing systems can be found on the Scientific Computing Unix Systems page.
Note: Offsite access to internal unix systems is provided through an offsite login server, details can be found on the Offsite Login Server page.
All of the printers avaliable from Unix are queued through a central Sun machine (prtsrv.jlab.org). In addition, local queues are installed on the Sun and HP machines for each of the print queues available on prtsrv. These local queues store the files to be printed before sending them to the central server (prtsrv) for processing and printing. Detailed information on Unix printing can be found on the Unix Printing page.
