If you will be away from your email for some period of time, there is a vacation utility which when enabled will send notifications of your absence to email that has been sent to your email account. This utility can either be accessed from the command line by entering the command vacation on any central Sun Unix system, which will require some knowledge of the Unix vi command, or for easier access you can use the utility via the online Web-based Vacation Utility advised that enabling the vacation utility could cause mail looping problems if you are a member of automated mailing lists, as responses are sent to every email message that is sent to your JLab email account.
