Incoming Mail

Your email address at Jefferson Lab is username@jlab.org (where username is your computer user account at the lab) or your email address is in the form Firstname.Lastname@jlab.org. For an explanation of this see the First.Last@JLab.org page)

Email addressed to either one of these addresses is routed appropriately by the central mail server in the Common Unix Environment (CUE). Most users at the lab will read their mail in the Common Unix Environment, either by directly logging into a CUE system (i.e. jlabs1,jlabs2, jlabl1) or by accessing their mail through a mail interface program running on their personal computer. In both of these cases, incoming mail is stored in your central mail "inbox" (located in the Unix file /var/mail/ username) which actually resides on the central fileserver (fs1) so that it is accessible by all of the CUE systems.
