JLAB DST/Cache File Server Layout

The DST/Cache File Servers consits of the following hardware:
  • 18 Linux NFS file servers each with 750-900 GB of RAID 0 or RAID 5 disk space and gigabit ethernet connections. These systems have redundant power supplies.

The DST/Cache file servers are used for the storage of data already on tape. In essence, cached copies of files on tape are made available on file servers for fast and convenient access. The file systems on these file servers are each dedicated to a cache group. A cache group, however, can consist of one or more file systems. These groups are requested by the halls and are then used for holding data or DST files for reconstuction or analysis. The files stored on these file servers are managed by JASMine. Files on these file servers are accessable via NFS (on select systems) and JASMine.
