The Jefferson Lab Computer Center is located in CEBAF Center; most staff are located in the F Wing. The Computer Center Helpdesk (12/F201A) is open from 8:00am to 4:30pm each business day. During that time, a Computer Center staff member will be available to help users with new accounts, wireless access, new IP addresses, and questions related to the use of the computing and networking facilities on the site. You can reach the Helpdesk by dialing x7155 (757-269-7155). Users are also encouraged to request assistance or ask questions via email to helpdesk@jlab.org
The following systems are supported by the Jefferson Lab Computer Center. Note that all new Data Acquisition development is on Solaris workstations. Users can bring other non-supported systems to the laboratory, however support will be very limited. Please read further Details on Supported Systems if you anticipate bringing a computer system or terminal to Jefferson Lab.
The Computer Center budget does not cover providing computer equipment (terminals, etc.) for individual users. Each Division is responsible for this from its budget. Users should discuss this with their Jefferson Lab sponsor. Staff members planning to purchase a personal computer system should contact Randy Hartman (x6399) in the Computer Center for advice concerning the current purchase requirements.

To make a request or report a problem to the Computer Center please use CCPR, the Computer Center's Problem Reporting and Request system. This system will forward your problems or requests to the individual or individual responsible for your request. Additionally you may go to the Computer Center Helpdesk page for more detailed descriptions and information. You may also send email to the helpdesk@jlab.org with the subject of your email containing a brief description of your request. This will then be forwarded into CCPR and assigned to a responsible individual.
For critical emergency assistance during after hours (i.e., major systems or networks down, problems affecting the production experimental program), please contact one of the Jefferson Lab Security Guards (Main Guard, Gatehouse, 757-269-5822) who can contact the Computer Center on-call staff.
