Security Patch Updates for All Windows Platforms

Microsoft is producing security updates/patches almost every week. All Jefferson Lab Windows PCs need to have them installed as soon as they are released. CUE machines should recieve critical updates automatically. If you are concerned you do not have the most recent patches or would like to manually install them, you can visit Microsoft's Windows Update website.

In order to use this update website, all users need to have Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher. If you do not have IE 4.0 or higher, you can install it from the JLAB-CUE programs group listed in your Start Menu.

Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools, Windows Update site or type http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com in the address field.

Select Product Updates. It will display Security Warning and ask you if you want to install Microsoft Active Setup. Select YES

It will gather all security patches on your system and advise you with additional patches.

It will show following page. Select Download button.

It will show you Download Checklist. Click Start Download button to download security updates.

It will show you following Web page Dialog for license agreement. Press Yes to go ahead.

It will start to download patches/updates and install them.

This will guarantee that you have a latest security patches on your system.
