Importing and Exporting an Address
Book with Mozilla Thunderbird
This handout will walk you through the process of importing and exporting a
personal address book with Mozilla Thunderbird.
- Open "Mail" from
Start Menu > All Programs > Mozilla
Thunderbird
- Open "Address
Book" from the “Tools” menu
Exporting an Address Book:
- Inside Address book, Select
"Export" from the "Tools" menu.
- Save the Address Book file to
a known place such as your home directory on J:
- Your address book has been
successfully exported.
Importing an Address Book:
- Inside Address book, Select
"Import" from the "Tools" menu.
- Select the Address Books from
the list and click next.
- Select the format of the
Address book you will be importing, in this case we select Text file
(LDIF, .tab ...)
- Choose the file you
previously exported and click Open.
- Uncheck items you do not
want to import and click OK.
- The imported address book
will be listed on the left column. It will be listed as the name of the
file it was imported from.
