Changing Your JLAB CUE Password
Changing Your JLAB CUE Password
Before changing your JLAB CUE password please see the
JLAB Password Rules page for the
rules and requirements for your JLAB user account password.
Your JLAB CUE password can be changed using the web based
CUE Password
Change Utility which is the easiest and preferred method to change your
JLab password, or by using the jpasswd utility explained below. When
changing your JLab CUE password the following resources are affected:
- Unix login
- E-Mail
- Windows
- Calendar
- MIS Web pages (stock, credit cards, timesheet, etc.)
- Dial-up networking
- Ingenium Training Database
A few systems use their own, proprietary database for passwords and will
NOT be changed by the provided password changing utilities:
- Any specific web pages where the author uses a separate password
file.
- Accelerator Controls Systems, and other systems on site that don't
use the central Windows Domain or Unix NIS systems.
Using the Web Based CUE Password Change Utility
The easiest method to change your JLab CUE password is to go to the
CUE Password
Change Utility web page. On this page you simply enter your username, your
current password, and then your desired new password twice and submit the
change request.
Using the jpasswd Command
If you use a Unix desktop (workstation, x-terminal, etc.):
- Log in to a central unix system (jlabs1, jlabs2, or jlabl1 machines)
- Type "jpasswd" - you will be prompted for your current password, and
your desired new password (twice).
If you use a Windows desktop system:
Follow these instructions:
- Log in to a central unix system (jlabs1, jlabs2, or jlabl1 machines)
- Type "jpasswd" - you will be prompted for your current password, and
your desired new password (twice).
- Log out of your Windows session (Start -> Log Off)
- Log back in to your Windows session using your new password.
If you use a Macintosh:
- Log in to a central unix system (jlabs1, jlabs2, or jlabl1 machines)
