Warning Banner Installation -- Macintosh
Warning Banner Installation -- Macintosh
The basic source of this information is CIAC's Bulletin
J-043. It has been modified for local conventions.
A copy of a banner presentation program is being made available for
Macintoshes. The program (originally doesecwar) was provided by Dave
Moore of NAWCWD, China Lake, and has the local name of doesecwarn.
The program is installed as a system extension and displays a dialog box
at startup showing the DOE warning and two buttons. If you press I Accept,
startup continues normally. If you press I Decline, the system shuts down.
Installation
Locate the installation files for doesecwarn
as follows:
- Open the Apple menu.
- Select Chooser.
- Select CEBAF Ethernet, Appleshare, then JLAB Fileserver.
- Log into the JLAB Fileserver with your Unix (e-mail, db1, etc)
username and password.
- From the list of directories available, select Mac Applications
- Close the Chooser window and open the 'new' Mac Applications folder
on your desktop.
- Open the MacDist folder, then the doesecwarn folder.
- Copy the doesecwarn application to the Extensions folder.
- The next time that you boot your system the dialog box will appear with the
warning banner.
